Jirik Maczko (Biftek Pipes) - Blasted Bulldog w/ Boxwood

About The Artist:

Former carpenter turned full-time pipe maker Jirik Maczko first started experimenting with carving in 2015, and was hooked from the moment he began. Two years later, in 2017 with much study and practice under his belt, Jirik was already leaving his day job to make pipemaking his career. Jirik credits his closeness to fellow Czech carvers Martin Paljesek (Jesek Pipes) and Martin Cermak (Cermak Pipes) with helping his skills and attention to detail accelerate so quickly. Jirik’s style is radically his own, a feat not always easy for a pipe maker to achieve.

Today, two years later Jirik’s pipes are in high demand, in most cases selling out direct from his Instagram within minutes. We’re proud to be the only American dealer for Biftek Pipes, offering approximately 12 pipes a year. Jirik uses German Ebonite and Mimmo Briar exclusively.

About The Pipe:

A select few of Jirik’s pipes are what we in America would consider more “tame”. With these pieces Jirik’s intent is to pay homage to a carver or shape he was deeply influenced by personally. This is one of those rare pieces, an Ilstead inspired bent bulldog carrying all the charm of a Biftek pipe, with just a dash of Poul’s spirit infused. This one has beautifully appointed angles and sweeping curves, a consistent tan blast finish, and a German Cumberland stem with a subtle boxwood inlay. Perfect class and beauty!
