Peter Heding - Disc w/ Horn Extension

Peter Heding - Disc w/ Horn Extension

About The Pipe:

This smooth disc from Peter Heding likens itself to a plump tomato with a freehand-esque touch to it. The rim has been raised and canted forward in relation to the bowl's protruding waist. The tapered and cinched nature of the rim adds an extra curve to the already flowing profile, accentuating the piece's forward-rushing momentum. The Danish-style contrast stain brings out a well-oriented band of cross grain and the underlying forest of birdseye beneath. The horn accent at the shank-end adds some dark and creamy hues to the color palette, while its sudden flare transitions well into the saddle stem, making for a fine use of negative space and staying true to many a Danish carver's convention of flaring the shank-end. Includes leather sleeve.
