Piero Vitale - Signature Grade Tomato

Piero Vitale - Signature Grade Tomato

About The Artist:

Hailing from Italy, Piero Vitale has been making pipes full time since 2014 , being heavily influenced by artisans such as Victor Yashtylov, Kent Rasmussen, Tom Eltang, Eder Mathias, and others. Piero's style is very unique, with bold lines and inventive shapes that he says are inspired from many things, including the sculptures he saw his grandfather make in his childhood. Vitale uses Mediterranean briar and SEM German ebonite.

About The Pipe:

Piero Vitale’s Signature Grade pipes are made in very limited quantities as a remarkable and exceptionally graded block of briar becomes available. He was nice enough to provide us with his first Signature Grade pipe of 2019, made from an 'extra extra' grade block of Manno briar.

This radical departure from the traditional tomato takes and squashes the width instead of the height, giving unique new perspective to an old classic. Stunning straight grain adorns the parameter, while the underside showcases some really lovely birdseye. Accented by a Maple inlay and black SEM eboonite stem. Group 4 bowl size. Includes box and sleeve.
